What is De-escalation?

In this workshop, participants will learn to recognize how stressors impact conversations when offering support and empathetic ways to minimize conflict to establish positive outcomes. De-escalation is a technique that allows us to defuse tense situations and manage conflicts before they spiral out of control. It involves communication, empathy, active listening, and emotional intelligence. The goal is not to avoid conflict entirely but to navigate it constructively, fostering better relationships and outcomes.

To spread the power of de-escalation, we must prioritize education and training.

Who should learn De-escalation?

Schools, workplaces, and communities should include de-escalation techniques in their curriculums and provide resources to enhance these skills. Of course, implementing de-escalation isn’t without its challenges. We may encounter resistance, misconceptions, or deeply ingrained beliefs that hinder progress. But with perseverance and education, we can overcome these obstacles.
